MADURAI: The 1992-96 batch alumni of Thiagarajar College of Engineering (TCE) in Madurai had contributed Rs.44 lakhs to the TCE Alumni Charitable Trust here today- on February 13th 2024. This contribution will be used by the Trust for providing scholarships to deserving students.
A press release received from college has said that the TCE-96 batch members had handed over the contribution of Rs.44 lakhs to TCE Chairman and Correspondent Mr.K.Hari Thiagarajan today morning and he had lauded the alumni’s gesture. Dr.M.Palaninatharaja, Principal in-charge of TCE and faculty members were among those present.
“In July 2023, the TCE alumni from 1992-96 batch came together for their silver jubilee reunion and initiated a fundraising campaign for the Alumni Charitable Trust fund. This initiative received an overwhelming response with significant contributions from Annadurai (Rs.10 lakhs), Mr.Ashok (Rs.5 lakhs), Mr.Senthil (Rs.5.6 lakhs) and many others, leading to a huge total of Rs.44 lakhs. This effort showcases the spirit and dedication of TCE alumni to give back to their alma mater,” the press release said.
Reflecting on the impact of their education in this college, a TCE-96 alumni member has said “attending TCE had allowed me to aim for the stars and reach levels of my life that I never thought is possible for me. This contribution is our way of giving back to the place from where it started, thereby ensuring that future generation students can also dream big and achieve bigger.”
