MADURAI: An exclusive website to explore tourism spots in Tamil Nadu was launched in Madurai yesterday- January 31st 2024.
This website – www.bestoftamilnadu.com- is an initiative of Best of Tamil Nadu (BOT) which is a special wing to promote tourism and help tourists under the aegis of Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry here.
Madurai Corporation Commissioner Mr.L.Madhubalan IAS had launched the BOT website last evening at a special meeting on tourism that was organised in TN Chamber hall in the city.
Explaining about BOT, its chairman Mr.J.Vijaya Darshan has said that the objective is to promote tourism in Tamil Nadu, especially in Madurai region, since there is a huge scope to attract tourists in large numbers every year.
“There are many stakeholders in tourism sector. We want to come out with a quantitative concrete plan through interaction sessions and the website www.bestoftamilnadu.com is one step in that direction,” he added.
Speaking about the website, BOT team member Mr.Nicholas Francis has said that it will be informative, inclusive and interactive for tourists and tourism stakeholders as the portal is giving as much information as possible covering tourist destinations across Tamil Nadu, tourism events, temples, festivals etc.
Mr.V.Neethi Mohan, chairman of YES (Young Entrepreneur School) which is an important wing in the TN Chamber here, has said that India has a huge potential to draw tourists from across the world. “Tourism has a multiplier effect, it leads to country’s development and helps job creation. This initiative of Tamil Nadu Chamber is very timely,” he said.
The scope of work of BOT and its website coverage includes cultural and spiritual tourism, beach tourism, ecotourism, wildlife tourism, heritage tourism, medical tourism, business tourism, food tourism, arts and crafts etc.
Among those who were present at the BOT unveiling event include Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Dr.N.Jegatheesan, women entrepreneurship pioneer Mrs.Rajakumari Jeevagan, BOT vice-chairperson Mrs.P.Hamsa Priya and representatives from various tourism associations, travel club, leading cab operators, tourist guides, tourism faculty, experts and traders associations.
