MADURAI: The Post Graduate and Research Department of History of Lady Doak College in Madurai had organized a special event as inter-collegiate competition for History Day 2024 here today- on January 30th 2024- on the theme ‘Celebratio’ 24-Celebrating the Lives of the Indian Freedom Fighters’ to commemorate Martyrs Day.
Dr.P.Ganesan, Head and Chairperson in-charge, Department of Ancient History in School of Historical Studies, Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU), inaugurated the event in which 107 students from 13 colleges had participated in competitions that had pencil sketching, poster making, dance, poem recitation etc, according to a press release received from LDC here today.
Mrs.T.Jegatheswari, District Tourism Officer, Tiruchi and Perambalur, distirbuted prizes at the valedictory function. Bishop Heber College in Tiruchi won the championship winner trophy while Fatima College in Madurai bagged the runner-up trophy.
The program was organized by Dr.S.Mercy Packiam, Controller of Examinations- Head and Associate Professor of History, Dr.T.Durga Devi and Mrs.J.Sharmila, assistant professors of history, along with other faculty members and students, the press release from LDC said.
