Gandhi Museum to start naturopathy course in Madurai soon

MADURAI: The Institute of Gandhian Studies and Research at Gandhi Memorial Museum in Madurai is planning to introduce diploma and postgraduate diploma course in naturopathy from the coming academic year.

Admission will be open for all and the course duration will be six months and one year for diploma and PG diploma courses, and naturopathy classes will be conducted in the museum campus here after obtaining the required affiliation, Mr.K.R.Nanda Rao, secretary of Gandhi Memorial Museum- Madurai has informed today.

He said this at the 13th convocation function of the Institute of Gandhian Studies held on January 20th 2024 for which Madurai Kamaraj University Vice-Chancellor Prof.Dr.J.Kumar was the chief guest and he distributed degree certificates to 60 candidates who completed diploma and postgraduate diploma in yoga.

Addressing the students, MKU Vice-Chancellor Prof.J.Kumar has said that yoga and Gandhian Thought courses are highlights of the Gandhi Memorial Museum in Madurai and its institute that is offering the courses.

Dr.Swami Jagadatmananda Saraswathi, Trustee, Arsha Vidya Gurukulam-Coimbatore, has stressed on how yoga strengthens the body and mind, and the importance of value education, inculcation of human values, moral education for children and lifestyle modification. “Our Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi stands as the supreme epitome of truth, dharma, peace and love,” he added.

Dr.R.Devadoss, Principal, Institute of Gandhian Studies and Research and Gandhi Memorial Museum treasurer advocate M.Senthil Kumar were among those who spoke besides Prof.Dr.P.S.Chandraprabhu, chairman of Gandhian Literature Society-Madurai and Dr.S.V.Venkadeswaran, visiting faculty of the institute.

Mr.R.Natarajan, Curator in-charge of Gandhi Memorial Museum welcomed the gathering while Mrs.M.J.Nandhini, visiting yoga faculty of the institute, had conducted the proceedings.
