DINDIGUL: A 25-year-old male patient who was suffering from chronic kidney disease had successfully undergone kidney transplantation at Vadamalayan Hospital in Dindigul recently.
The hospital’s team of doctors and medical experts had successfully performed kidney transplant for the patient N.Elavarasan on December 10th 2023 and one month after this transplant, he didn’t required any session of hemodialysis as there was a good improvement.
Dr.Pugalagiri Vadamalayan, Chairman and Managing Director of Vadamalayan Hospitals and Mrs.Chandra Pugalagiri, Joint Managing Director, had congratulated the medical team for saving the life of 25-year-old man, while announcing the successful kidney transplantation at a press meet held in Dindigul on January 10th 2024.
FATHER WAS THE KIDNEY DONOR:
The medical team of Vadamalayan Hospital that performed the kidney transplant successfully in Dindigul includes Dr.Jafrine Nishanth, Dr.Hemanath as nephrologist, Dr.Dev Anand, Dr.Narendran as anaesthesiologist, Dr.Chandramouli, Dr.Muthuvijayan, Dr.Sathish Kinne, Dr.Lokavijayan and Dr.Sathya Selvam as transplant surgeons.
A press release received from the hospital has informed that the patient N.Elavarasan had kidney problem and uncontrolled hypertension for last two years.
“He was referred to Vadamalayan Hospital in Dindigul. On evaluation, it was found that the patient’s kidney was shrunk completely and not properly functioning. He was put on haemodialysis weekly twice till kidney transplant. The medical team and hospital went ahead for finding a prospective donor and his parents were willing to donate kidney. His father was identified as good match for going ahead with kidney transplant and he was the donor,” the press release said and added that patient now needs proper nephrologist followup.
The Vadamalayan Hospital management had informed that the multi-specialty tertiary care hospital was brought to Dindigul to fulfill the dreams of hospital founder Dr.P.Vadamalayan and “now it could perform kidney transplant surgery in a tier-three place Dindigul for the first time.”
Dr.N.Karthikeyan, Chief Operating Officer and Head of Emergency Department at Vadamalayan Hospitals in Dindigul, had proposed a vote of thanks at the press conference held on January 10th 2024.
