Safety award for railway station master who alerted about sparks in a goods train

Railway safety award presented in Madurai DRM office on December 26th 2023.

MADURAI: R.Jayaprakash, railway station master of Tulukapati near here, was today presented safety award for his safety consciousness while performing duty. Mr.Sharad Srivastava, Divisional Railway Manager, Madurai Railway Division, had presented the award to him on December 26th 2023.

The station master found sparks coming from a wheel of a goods wagon on 5th December 2023 in a goods train passing through Thulukkapati railway station (in Virudhunagar district).

“He informed this to the control room in Madurai and at Sattur the rail brake binding which caused the spark was rectified. The empty good strain was proceeding on that day to Tuticorin Harbour for loading,” a railway press release received here today has informed.

On the same day, the station master also noticed and reported a door in open condition in a wagon of goods train proceeding to Pugalur, and following his message the train was stopped at Virudhunagar and that door was closed. The Safety Award was presented at the weekly safety meeting of Madurai Division held at the DRM office today.

Additional Divisional Railway Manager C.Selvam, Senior Divisional Safety officer Mohaidheen Pitchai, Senior Divisional Operations Manager V.Prasanna and other officers were present at the safety award presentation occasion.
