8 demands for TN Govt colleges: Signature campaign from Jan 2nd in 170 Govt colleges for appointment of 4,000 college teachers

MADURAI: The Tamil Nadu Government College Teachers Association’s State-level executive committee meeting took place at Sri Meenakshi Government College for Women in Madurai on December 17th 2023 where some important resolutions were passed in the interest of higher education, for the welfare of teachers and students.

This meeting held in Madurai yesterday was attended by the office-bearers of Tamil Nadu Government Collegiate Teachers Association- its President P.David Livingstone, general secretary S.Suresh, vice president (general) A.Gopalakrishnan, vice president (women) T.Mathuram, joint secretary (general) S.Manjunathan, joint secretary (women) S.Durgadevi and treasurer P. Prakash.

One of the important resolutions passed at this meeting was to conduct a signature campaign from January 2nd to 5th among teachers and students of 170 Government arts and science and education colleges to expedite the appointment of 4,000 college teachers as the announcement made before the elections one year back.

The meeting also passed a resolution to sanction professor post to college teachers, resolution passed to resend Annamalai University surplus staff who are working in government colleges to their university back, and also this meeting resolved to participate in a large number in the December 28th Jacto Geo struggle in Chennai to implement the Old Pension Scheme for all, according to a press release received from S.Suresh, general secretary of TNGCTA, here today on December 18th 2023.

Meenakshi College unit secretary Selvi welcomed the gathering while Madurai zonal secretary Christal Jeeva had proposed a vote of thanks.
