Media, academia protect the Indian Constitution: Legal experts send’LEAD’ message from Fatima College in Madurai

MADURAI: The Indian Constitution Day was celebrated at Fatima College in Madurai on 25th November 2023 by holding special awareness sessions on legal education and advocacy in association with Sisters of St.Joseph of Lyon and Legal Education and Advocacy Development (LEAD).

The Department of History and Sociology with Computer Application had coordinated the program where senior counsel of Madras High Court Mr.Isaac Mohanlal sensitized the students about the necessity of understanding and abiding the laws of Indian Constitution.

“There is a great role for educational system today in protecting and promoting the values of Indian Constitution and there is role of media today today to protect the Indian Constitution. Media and academia plays vital role for protecting our Indian Constitution. The other panel members in this interactive panel session were Dr.Revathi Subulakshmi, vice-principal of Senthamail College in Madurai and senior journalist B.Thirumalai. They highlighted the importance of introducing fundamental rights and fundamental duties in educational system,” a press release received from Fatima College here yesterday has said.

Justice V.Sivagnanam, Judge, Madras High Court, who was the chief guest had spoken about social justice, human rights, social rights and equality. Quiz, elocution and reels making competitions were conducted and prizes were distributed to the winners. Among those who were present at this event were Fatima College Principal Dr.Sr.G.Celine Sahaya Mary and Sr.Amala Achariam, advocate, Madras High Court- Madurai Bench and director of LEAD, and the college vice principals.
