CHENNAI: An important public useful session- ‘Be Careful’ road accident prevention awareness programme- for students was conducted in Sai Ram Engineering College in Tambaram in Chennai on 21st November 2023 by the Lions Club of Madras Excellence of Lions Clubs International District 324K.
Dr.K.Gireesh, an eminent neurophysician and neurosurgeon in Chennai had given awareness message from this session, by saying that neurosurgeons must go one step forward and propagate about prevention of head injury in road accidents with five important points about golden hour, head injury treatment, helmet-wearing importance for two-wheeler riders, life after head injury etc.
“School and college students must be sensitized and cautioned about road accidents and importance of helmet wearing while driving. Be Careful prevention program (Road Safety) is being organized in various colleges for the benefit of students. A helmet awareness programme was conducted in Sairam Engineering College at Tambaram in Chennai in which 200 NCC students participated. This programme was carried out by Lions Club of Madras Excellence of Lions District 324K. This road safety awareness is a pet project of Dr.K.Gireesh who is also a past district governor of 324 K,” the press release added.
Dr.K.Gireesh had stressed that students must take road safety pledge for observing traffic discipline. Lions District Governor Mr.Rajesh Dave and NCC coordinator Mr.Dinesh were among those who spoke on the occasion.
