MADURAI: The Thiagarajar College of Engineering (TCE) in Madurai had today felicitated its alumni in recognition of their contributions in the field of space especially for their involvement in the Chandrayaan Moon mission.
A felicitation function was organised here on November 17th 2023 by the TCE Alumni Association where seven old students of this college who studied mechanical, electrical and computer science/ electronics in 80s and 90s and later worked in the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) were recognized with a citation and a memento for their dedication and commendable achievements in space science, space mission launches and for bringing huge success and glory to India in recent Chandrayaan launch.
Mr.K.Hari Thiagarajan, Chairman and Correspondent of TCE who presided over the ISRO-TCE Alumni Felicitation Function, has said that “we have Virat Kohli’s and Shamis in space launches also and today’s function was to recognise their exemplary contributions and dedication.”
Dr.M.Palaninatharaja, Principal in-charge, said in his welcome address that Chandrayaan-3 is a symbol of collective dreams and the nation celebrates remarkable achievements of ISRO scientists. Mr.I.A.S.Balamurugan, president, TCE Alumni Association, college faculty and students were among those present at the felicitation function.
The seven alumni who were felicitated today include Mr.K.Palanivelu, S.Sridhar, Dr.R.Venkatraman, Nageswaran, Mrs.Jayanthi Rajesh, M.Leelavathi and S.Gowri Mani. “It is an emotional moment for us today to get felicitated in the college campus where we studied. TCE has contributed a lot to the field of space in design, launch vehicles, operations etc. There are many old students of this college who are working in various space centres,” Mr.K.Palanivelu has said while sharing his feelings and thoughts at the function today.
