MADURAI: At an important Syndicate meeting held here today on October 26th 2023, the Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) Syndicate members had once again decided and resolved to confer honorary Doctorate for centenarian freedom fighter N.Sankaraiah despite the Tamil Nadu Governor R.N.Ravi’s refusal to sign papers to confer doctorate recommending file sent by the university.

“The MKU Syndicate has today once again unanimously decided to confer honorary doctorate on great freedom fighter and centenarian N.Sanakaraiah. All the Syndicate members of our university and IAS officers too have decided that MKU should go ahead with its honorary Doctorate decision and that freedom fighter centenarian Sankaraiah must be honoured in a right manner by this university in Madurai. The university is firm on this even though the Chancellor Governor R.N.Ravi had declined to sign on our university’s resolution to confer doctorate for 100 year old freedom fighter N.Sankaraiah. The decision will be communicated to top level authorities immediately because the MKU convocation is taking place on 2nd November 2023,” MKU sources told ‘Lotus Times’ media here in Madurai today evening after the Syndicate meeting was over on October 26th 2023.
