MADURAI: The Tamil Nadu Food Grains Merchants Association has suggested two places in Madurai city to the Government authorities to select for conducting ‘Happy Street’ celebration. The two places are Race Course Road starting from Pandiyan Hotel till Lotus tank via Race Course Road (up to Thamarai Thotti) and the road from Teppakulam area to Ring Road junction to Viraganoor here.
In an important press release issued on 25th September 2023, the TN Food Grains Merchants Association president Mr.S.V.S.S.VelShankar and Honorary Advisor S.P.Jeyapragasam made this suggestion of suitable place for holding ‘Happy Street’ events in Madurai city because the celebration was stopped before the scheduled time at Anna Nagar 80 ft road in Madurai on 24th September 2023-Sunday, due to huge crowds causing congestion and affecting the public.
“If the Race Course Road from Pandiyan Hotel to Lotus Tank road is selected, it can accommodate Happy Street Event….or select the road from Teppakulam to Viraganoor road junction since there are no residences in that area. The ‘Happy Street’ event will be a good entertainment for the people of Madurai city and the two places suggested by us will not affect traffic,” the press release from Tamil Nadu Food Grains Merchants Association president Mr.S.V.S.S.Velshankar and honorary advisor Mr.S.P.Jeyapragasam has appealed on 25th September 2023, making an appeal to Ministers P.Moorthy and P.T.R and to the Mayor and District Collector.
