MADURAI: The public response for various savings schemes of Postal Department looks very encouraging as 712 new accounts have been opened in a single day on September 20th 2023 at the special campaign conducted by Tallakulam Head Post Office in Madurai.
A special campaign was organized by the Tallakulam HPO here on Wednesday as a part of the ‘Dak Community Development Programme’ (DCDP) which is meant to create more public awareness about all postal and financial services provided by Department of Posts and India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) through a single platform so as to enlarge the public outreach.
The DCDP campaign on 20th September 2023 was done at Tallakulam Head Post Office premises and at ELCOT IT Park premises where postal department officers including Ms.S.Meenakshi, Senior Post Master-Tallakulam HPO, Mr.K.A.Kalyana Varadharajan, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices-Madurai Division and Ms.Lakshmi Preethi, IPPB Manager, explained the latest attractive savings schemes and financial products offered by post offices.
In just one day, the Tallakulam Head Post Office in Madurai could get 712 new accounts opened by customers for different savings schemes like POSB, Recurring Deposit, MIS, PPF, TD, MSSC etc. Besides the 712 accounts, the Tallakulam post office also opened nine IPPB premium accounts, three PLI new policies for sum assured of Rs.13 lakhs and nine international parcels booked on that day.
When contacted, the Senior Post Master of Tallakulam Head Post Office Ms.S.Meenakshi has said that the campaign on September 20th 2023 could get good public response with new accounts and new business thanks to the best efforts by the entire staff of post office and through small savings agents.
