MADURAI: The Syndicate meeting of Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) is taking place here today- on August 18th 2023. One of the important items on the Syndicate meeting agenda of the university is to take official decision of conferring Honorary Doctorate for veteran Communist leader 102-years-old N.Sankaraiah by the MKU.
Already Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K.Stalin had announced last month that Madurai Kamaraj University will present honorary doctorate to veteran Communist leader Sankaraiah, and that will be formally taken up in today’s syndicate meeting which starts at 11.30 am on August 17th 2023.
In the Syndicate agenda note of MKU, this matter was mentioned as “N.Sankaraiah-Honorary Doctorate: To consider the awarding of D.Litt honorary degree Honoris Causa to veteran leader N.Sankaraiah, honorary doctorate from MKU in recognition of his contribution to freedom struggle, eight years of imprisonment and dedicating his life for the upliftment of poor and Tamil society.”
The announcement of awarding Honorary Doctorate to N.Sankaraiah will be formally announced today evening after the Syndicate meeting is over on August 18th 2023, varsity sources said.
