MADURAI: Members of various associations and unions have staged a massive protest and demonstration in Madurai today evening- on August 17th 2023- demanding the immediate suspension and removal of MKU College vice-principal Dr.P.Kabilan from the post.

The demonstration, which was organized under the auspices of teachers’ association MUTA, took place near Anna bus stand in the city, condemning the unruly behaviour of Dr.Kabilan who had allegedly attacked MUTA president Dr.A.T.Senthamarai Kannan in the college campus on Independence Day.

A large number of college teachers, university staff, associations and various affiliated unions had participated in the demonstration here today demanding the quick intervention of government and Madurai Kamaraj University to sack the MKU College vice-principal.

MUTA vice-president Mr.Periasamy Raja has said that it is a matter of shame that a college teacher is attacking another college teacher in the college campus. “Kabilan is not fit to be a teacher at all. We must boycott him fully and the public must be concerned about what happened to MUTA president Dr.A.T.Senthamarai Kannan on August 15th 2023. It is not a one person’s issue. We are going to fight to protect the interests of teachers and students,” Mr.Periasamy Raja said.

He also appealed to the Tamil Nadu State government to sanction a government college for Madurai because students here desperately need a government college especially for boys. MUTA office-bearers have also pointed out that there is no vice-principal post at all which is approved by the government for colleges. Union leaders Mr.Deivaraj and others had addressed the gathering and raised slogans demanding action against MKU College vice-principal Dr.Kabilan.
