Devadoss Hospital to promote first aid training in road accidents, observes National Bone and Joint Day on August 4th

MADURAI: Leading multi-speciality hospital in Madurai region-Devadoss Hospital-is going to put more focus on imparting first aid training for common people so that they can give basic life support during road accidents or emergencies in the ‘golden hour’. The hospital has set for itself a target to train one lakh people in first aid in the next one year.

This was informed to reporters at a press meet held in Madurai on August 4th 2023 to mark the National Bone and Joint Day, by Devadoss Hospital Vice-Chairman Dr.Sathish Devadoss. “The Indian Orthopaedic Association has been observing August 4th as National Bone and Joint Day in India since 2012. This year’s theme is ‘Each One Train One Save One’, and in line with that theme, the hospital is putting emphasis on training the common man in first aid.

ACCIDENT DEATHS:

Dr.Sathish Devadoss had stressed that the need for quick immediate response is more at the time of road accidents. “Proper first aid becomes crucial in the golden hour when accident takes place. Accident deaths can be reduced of basic life support is given to accident victims. So, we intend to train the common man- be it a street vendor, housewife, auto-rickshaw driver, shopkeeper, tea stall owner, traffic police constable or anybody. In public places we need people aware of CPR and basic life support,” he told reporters at press conference organized by Devadoss Hospital on August 4th 2023.

The first aid training will be given in association with voluntarr service organizations, associations and government bodies. Devadoss Hospital is also going to increase public awareness about bone and joint problems, osteoporosis, arthritis, spine problems and prevention, sports injuries, bone infection, knee injuries, ligament tear, knee and joint problems due to obesity etc.

Dr.B.Pradeep, arthroscopy and sports medicine expert, Devadoss Hospital, had explained of advanced treatment facilities are available to handle sports related injuries while senior orthopedic specialists Dr.D.C.Deepak and Dr.B.Pradeep had highlighted about joint replacement and spine surgeries respectively.
