MADURAI: The All India Association for Christian Higher Education (AIACHE)-New Delhi, has expressed its deep concern for the disruption of education that is taking place in the north-eastern State of violence-hit Manipur for the last few weeks.
At the Executive Board members’ meeting held at Kodaikanal in Tamil Nadu, this national level body had taken a serious note of what is happening in Manipur and how the students in that State are suffering right now.
“The All India Association for Christian Higher Education is an educational body in New Delhi consisting of 500 member institutions from all over India. At the Executive Board meeting held on July 22nd 2023 in Kodaikanal in Tamil Nadu, the board members members had expressed deep shock over what is happening in Manipur and the violence suffered by people of that State,” Dr.M.Davamani Christober, president of AIACHE-New Delhi and Rev.Dr.Xavier Vedam SJ, general secretary of AIACHE-New Delhi, have expressed concern in a press release issued from Madurai today.
“The AIACHE is expressing deep shock and concern about Manipur violence, especially the violence perpetrated on Kuki tribal community. The board members also are worried and shocked for violence on women, children and religious places in Manipur. We are very much concerned for disruption of education of children in Manipur. We urge the Manipur State government and the Union government to take immediate steps to stop violence and bring normalcy in Manipur,” the press statement by AIACHE president Dr.M.Davamani Christober (Principal and Secretary of American College in Madurai) and AIACHE general secretary Rev.Dr.Xavier Vedam SJ, has appealed on July 24th 2023.
