MADURAI: Old is Gold is a familiar proverb. The Madurai Kamaraj University College in Madurai is now on a mission to highlight the importance of how old students of this college can give a golden opportunity for present students through ‘MKU College Alumni Connect’ initiative.
On 21st July 2023, hundreds of students had gathered in Tholkappiar Hall in the college campus to attend a knowledge sharing session called ‘Journey in IT’ which was addressed by three alumni of 1999-2002 MCA batch for the benefit of current students thanks to the initiative taken by Department of Computer Science of MKU College, situated near outpost-Tallakulam in the city.
The three old students of this college were on cloud nine for getting an invitation from the college where they studied. T.Chella Durai, Engineering Director at American Express-USA, L.Muthukumar, senior engineering manager from American Express-UK and Madan Bharathakumar, product delivery manager at Barclays-Pune, had addressed the students and received a wide applause for sharing their knowledge and experience in this alumni talk programme.
OLD STUDENTS ARE ASSETS AND STRENGTH:
The value of alumni for every college was emphasized by MKU College Principal in-charge Dr.M. Buvaneswaran, Vice-Principal Dr.P.Kabilan and Head of Department of Computer Science Dr.C.Suresh Kumar at the inaugural function of ‘Journey in IT’ session.
“Our college had started alumni connect efforts and already there is very good response. Many of our old students are in very good positions in different countries and in India. Already 3,000 alumni of this college had registered. We always say that old students are assets for any college, and these three old students of our college who came here today to share their knowledge are our college assets. The MKU College which was started in the year 1994 is taking full steps to strengthen alumni network for the benefit of students now and in future,” Principal in-charge Dr.Buvaneswaran and Vice-Principal Dr.P. Kabilan (president of MKU College Alumni Connect) said while addressing the students on July 21st 2023.
The three alumni of MKU College-T.Chella Durai, L.Muthukumar and Madan- told ‘LotusTimes‘ website that they feel thrilled to come to their alma mater, and more particularly happy to see their old friends holding good positions in the same college.
