MADURAI: The Election Commission of India is geared up for summary revision of electoral rolls by taking January 1st 2024 as eligibility-qualifying date for enrolling of voters and release the voters list on January 5th 2024 across the country.
As a part of that exercise, the State Election Commission in Tamil Nadu is taking steps for preparing the voters list through special camps.
In an important press release issued from Madurai on July 20th 2023, the Madurai District Collector Ms.M.S.Sangeetha has informed the people that special voters list revision camps will be conducted in all the 10 Assembly constituencies in Madurai district.
Before that, there will be door to door verification of voters in each house will be done from July 21st to August 21st 2023 in Madurai district through polling booth level staff to gather correct information of voters. Inclusion and addition of names in voters list, address changes, deletion of names, polling booth changes, place change etc will be done during this one month period for preparing the final electoral rolls and voter ID process.
The Madurai District Collector and District Electoral Officer has today urged the people of Madurai district to cooperate with the polling booth staff and give all their correct particulars for the final voters list that will be released on 5th January 2024.
