MADURAI: The Madurai City urban district unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is pushing for Union Finance Minister Ms.Nirmala Sitharaman to contest from Madurai in the coming Lok Sabha elections 2024 by strongly saying that “she belongs to Madurai, she knows Madurai, she is from Tamil Nadu and the people of southern districts of Tamil Nadu wants to her to contest from Madurai.”

A resolution to this effect was passed at the core committee meeting of BJP’s Madurai Urban District unit held here recently. “We want Ms.Nirmala Sitharaman to contest the coming Parliament elections from Madurai Lok Sabha constituency. The people of southern districts are very keen that our party leadership should announce her as the Madurai candidate for 2024 LS polls. She will win 100 per cent and it is going to be 100 per cent victory for her. A resolution was passed for this because she is a popular leader and we are there for her with full confidence,” Mr.Maha.Suseendhran, Madurai City BJP president, told ‘LotusTimes’ website www.lotustimes.org in Madurai on July 11th 2023.

The request and resolution passed by the BJP Madurai Urban District unit was conveyed to the Tamil Nadu BJP State president Mr.K.Annamalai and other senior leaders a few days back. “We are ready to take on the opposition candidate, whether the present Communist party MP Mr.Su.Venkatesan or anybody. This is the confidence of BJP in Madurai Lok Sabha constituency, we are requesting the party leadership at State level and at national level to field Mrs.Nirmala Sitharaman from Madurai in the coming Parliament elections. This is the request from us. She will win hundred per cent,” the Madurai urban district president Mr.Maha.Suseendhran said here today.

His appeal on behalf of Madurai BJP assumes significance because there is already a strong talk that Modi should contest from Ramanathapuram constituency in Tamil Nadu in the coming Parliament elections, bringing him from Kasi to Rameswaram.
