CHENNAI: Dr.K.Gireesh, an eminent neurophysician and neurosurgeon in Chennai, was honoured with Doctors Day Award by the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Tamil Nadu State Branch, at a function held in Chennai on July 2nd 2023. More than 60 doctors were specially honoured with awards in various categories by the IMA State Branch at Doctors Day 2023 celebration in recognition of their untiring work to the needy people.
Dr.K.Narayanasamy, Vice-Chancellor of Tamil Nadu Dr.MGR Medical University, was the chief guest for the Doctors Day celebration function held at Park Hyatt Hotel in Chennai on Sunday evening.
Among the award recipients was senior neurophysician and neurosurgeon Dr.K.Gireesh (of Padma Clinic and Nursing Home in Kilpauk in Chennai) who was appreciated and honoured in the category of community service, in appreciation and recognition of his excellent community service rendered by him beyond the call of duty, for organizing more than 2,000 neuro health camps in various villages of Tamil Nadu for the past over two decades, specialized epilepsy camps and for conducting medical camps for physically challenged people through Lions clubs, IMA and voluntary organisations.
The Vice-Chancellor of Tamil Nadu Dr.MGR Medical University Dr.K.Narayanasamy had presented the Doctors Day Award 2023 to neurologist Dr.K.Gireesh on July 2nd 2023 in the presence of IMA State president Dr.T.Senthamil Pari, IMA past president Dr.R.Palaniswamy, honorary State secretary Dr.N.R.T.R. Thiagarajan, IMA State branch finance secretary Dr.V.N.Alagavenkatesan and others.
Dr.K.Gireesh had been regularly carrying out road safety awareness programmes (Be Careful prevention program) for college students for the past 25 years.
