MADURAI: Meeting an old friend is always a cherished moment. If you meet your college friend or your schoolmate after many years, it will be always etched in your memory. That great chance to connect is being created by the MKU College in Madurai because the Madurai Kamaraj University College (MKU College) at Alagarkoil Road in Madurai is now on a mission for friendship connect for its old students who studied from 1994.
“Our MKU College is very keen to bring thousands of our old students together and fresh into their memories of their college days here. We are starting ‘MKU College Alumni Connect’ through which old students of MKU College in Madurai can be connected once again. To start with, we will have 3,500 alumni who will be able to connect through social media like Facebook, Whatsapp etc, thanks to the permission given by our MKU Vice-Chancellor Prof.J.Kumar. We want to create a huge global level platform for MKU College alumni to come together,” Dr.P.Kabilan, president of MKU College Alumni Connect, has said while talking to the ‘Lotus Times’ English media website www.lotustimes.org, here in Madurai on June 22nd 2023.
MKU COLLEGE ALUMNI IS IN 50 COUNTRIES:
The old students of MKU College at Alagarkoil Road in Madurai are now spread across India and in many countries where they are holding important positions in their respective fields. “Our college alumni is present in 50 countries. From 1994, about 25,000 students had completed their courses from this college and now we are going to connect the old students and old friends through social media platforms and in other route. Through the support of our alumni who are in good position now, we can help the poor and deserving students for education fees, jobs, employment and placement, and for something to our college infrastructure facilities also,” says Dr.P.Kabilan, Vice-Principal and associate professor of MKU College in Madurai, who himself is an alumni of this college. He acknowledges the support of MKU College Principal in-charge Dr.M. Buvaneswaran and all the staff from teaching and non-teaching departments.
The idea to bring together all the old students together is being implemented by a special team that is working for this purpose of launching ‘MKU College Alumni Connect’ from Madurai through the present college staff who studied here and are now proud alumni of MKU College. The MKU College Alumni Connect team has its dedicated old students including Dr.Z.Ahamed from Hotel Management Department who is the alumni connect team secretary and Dr.Rajasekhar from the Department of Management Studies.

The MKU College in Madurai thanks for the support being given by university Vice-Chancellor Prof.J.Kumar and the varsity authorities. “The objective is to bring our old students together and link the friendship. At the same time, we want to help the current students in various aspects like getting job, right placements, soft skills etc. This is a great college that started important courses many years back like B.Sc Computer Science, Hotel Management, M.Sc Comp Science, MCA, Tourism courses etc. A special committee is now working to take the alumni connect forward and special thanks to FETNA (Federation of Tamil Sangams in North America),” alumni Dr.P.Kabilan, MKU College vice-principal and alumni connect president, has said on June 22nd 2023, while extending his thanks to MKU College Principal in-charge Dr.M.Buvaneshwaran and college staff.
