Faculty members of the Department of Tourism Management of MKU College are now guiding the students coming for UG admissions and eager to join tourism related courses. “We have started spot admissions on 1st June, there is interest picking up among students here for tourism related courses. Our college is popular since 1994 for tourism course. We are offering B.Sc (Tourism and Hospitality Management) in English medium, and we also have MTTM course (Master of Tourism and Travel Management). These are courses which enjoy 100 per cent job placement because the tourism sector is such that it is ever green. We are guiding the students to join job assured course like B.Sc in Tourism and Hospitality Management.” Dr.B.George, Associate Professor and Head of Department of Tourism Management, told ‘LotusTimes’ media on June 5th 2023.

He explains that there are plenty of jobs available after completing the course since both domestic and international tourism volume is rapidly growing and India has so many attractive spots and unexplored areas with tourism potential. After completing the course, students will be absorbed in travel agencies, as tour operators, by star hotels, theme parks, event management managers, government tourism sector and many more.

Another senior faculty member and associate professor Dr.T.Z.Ahamed of Department of Hotel Management points out that teaching jobs too are in plenty in tourism sector because of UGC guidelines and hence it will be ideal for students to join B.Sc Tourism and Hospitality Management and MTTM.

“Our college students have become tourism officers of 21 districts in Tamil Nadu. In many leading hotels, our students are placed. We feel very happy for that and hence explain to young boys and girls to take up tourism and travel related courses. There is a lot of demand for graduates in this field,” Dr.Ahamed says and he also pointed out that all the faculty members are doctorates in this department in MKU College and they are research guides.

MKU College Principal in-charge Dr.M.Buvaneswaran concurs with Dr.George and Dr.Ahamed by saying that the college became very popular for its tourism course because of its focus on practical training and project works given to students.

Going by its successful track record in the past 30 years, the MKU College has become one of the sought after institutions especially for tourism, travel, hotel management and catering programmes. Spot admissions are now going on and there are senior faculty members available there to give orientation and guidance about the potential and prospects of the courses.
