Ernakulam railway station being redeveloped at a cost of Rs.300 crores; Works being expedited

KOCHI: The railway station redevelopment works of Ernakulam Railway Junction in Kerala are being expedited at a steady pace to modernize the station with futuristic designs, infrastructure and best facilities to passengers and a pleasing ambience.

Redevelopment of Ernakulam junction railway station is being done at a cost of Rs.300 crores and this tender contract was given to M/s Bridge and Roof Company India Ltd in July last year by setting a deadline of 24 months for completion of works. Two terminals and a multilevel car parking is proposed to be constructed, equipped with ticketing area, waiting lounges, commercial area, railway offices, sky walk and concourses.

A press release received from Southern Railway today- on May 31st 2023- has given an update about this project saying that Ernakulam Junction railway station is one of the busiest railway stations in south India with about 130 scheduled daily train services. East and west terminal building works are going on at a steady pace now, piling is nearing completion for multi-level car parking and all mandatory clearances have been obtained for other works related to this project.
