MADURAI: The Principal Secretary of Public Works Department (PWD) of Government of Tamil Nadu Dr.B.Chandramohan had today inspected the construction works that are underway for creating a permanent gallery, arena, stadium etc for the famous Alanganallur Jallikattu, at Keelakarai near Alanganallur.
On May 24th 2023, Dr.Chandramohan went to the construction site at Keelakarai near here where the Tamil Nadu State government is constructing a top class permanent gallery and arena for Alanganallur Jallikattu that takes place every year during the Pongal festival time. The Public Works Department is constructing a permanent arena with lot of facilities for the jallikattu participants and visitors who throng in thousands to watch the bull-taming event.
The permanent gallery for Alanganallur Jallikattu is coming up on 16-acres land at an estimated cost of Rs.44 crores, where facilities for ‘Vaadivasal’, bull registration, screening centre, dress changing rooms and visitors’ seating gallery are being created now, and construction works are in progress.
Madurai District Collector Ms.M.S.Sangeetha and concerned officials from the district administration were present during the inspection done by PWD secretary Dr.B.Chandramohan at Keelakarai near Alanganallur in Madurai district on 24th May 2023.
