MADURAI: The city of Madurai is in a complete mourning as one of its greatest sons- Karumuttu T Kannan- had passed away today morning- on May 23rd 2023. Thousands of people have turned up right from the morning today to pay their last respects and homage to Karumuttu Kannan, who is the face of Madurai region as an educationist, industrialist and philanthropist.
His home at Kochadai in Madurai city is now filled with thousands of people who are in sorrow after hearing the passing away of Karumuttu T Kannan since he had done an yeomen service to the people of Tamil Nadu through his distinguished positions in industry, education, philanthropy and as ‘Thakkar’ of the famnus Sri Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple for over 15 years.
His role as educationist through Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Thiagarajar College, Thiagarajar Mills etc is well known because he gave the opportunity for top class quality education in his colleges. The final rites will take place at 2 pm on May 24th 2023.
Leaders of various political parties from Tamil Nadu and other States, associations and the general public are expressing their condolences and personally paying respects to the departed soul. The one common message of the condolence messages coming from Madurai is that ” It is a sad day for Madurai and a great loss for Tamil Nadu.”
