Old age home near Madurai gets renovated buildings with Rotary Club support of Rs.17 lakhs

MADURAI: Angel Devagi Old Age Home at Thiruvadhavur near Madurai got a total face-lift for its buildings thanks to renovation and construction works carried out by Rotary Club of Madurai Star at a cost of Rs.17 lakhs under its community service project.

Rotary District Governor Mr.I.Jerald of Rotary International District 3000 had inaugurated the new building of this old age home on 10th May 2023, in the presence of senior Rotary members and Rotary club office-bearers. Around 80 old aged persons are staying in Angel Devaki Old Age Home which is situated at Mukkampattu village in Thiruvadavur near Madurai.

The Rotary Club of Madurai Star had renovated the old building of this old age home at a cost of Rs.17 lakhs and also carryied out the required construction works. Apart from building works, the Rotary members also took the initiative of planting nearly 500 tree saplings in the premises in order to provide good green cover for the old age home.

Rotary District Governor for 2024-25 Dr.Raja Govindasamy, auditor Mr.Sethu Madhava, retired judge Mr.Mayandi and senior members of Rotary including past district governors Mr.Shanmugasundaram and Mr.Purushothaman were among those present at the inauguration of old age home building here yesterday.

Mr.P.Prabhakar, managing trustee of Angel Devagi Old Age Home, had thanked the Rotary Club of Madurai Star for its support. Rotary club president Mr.M.Ganesan had welcomed the gathering while club secretary Mr.R.Murugan had proposed a vote of thanks.

Also present at the building inauguration were members of various Rotary clubs including Mr.Nellai Balu, Mr.Santharam, Mr.Sandeep Senthilnathan, Mr.Ramanathan, Mr.Vanchinathan, Mr.Nagarathinam, Ms.Kavitha and Mr.Balakrishnan.
