Distributing water pots to save birds and animals from summer heat, Rotary Club’s gesture in Chennai

CHENNAI: The Rotary Club of Chennai Coastal has distributed more than 300 water pots free of cost at various places in Chennai city for keeping water for birds and stray animals during this scorching summer season.

These pots will be used to keep drinking water for stray animals on Chennai streets and also to quench the thirst for birds, Ms.Latha Balamukundan, president, Rotary Club of Chennai Coastal, has said in a press release received on May 9th 2023.

The small water pots will be kept outside the apartments and independent houses in different areas in Chennai- at T.Nagar, Ashok Nagar, Nanganallur, Velachery, Madipakkam, Vepery, Kilpauk, Alwarpet, Purasawakkam, Anna Nagar, Mogappair, Ambattur, Kodambakkam, Nungambakkam, Mylapore, Tambaram, Adyar, ECR and OMR.

“We must saver our feathered friends by keeping water available for them in this hot summer time. This is a noble cause for which our Rotary Club members took part in this initiative of distributing water pots. For the birds, we can keep water pots in our balconies or on terrace. Our club had distributed more than 300 pots free of cost keeping the thirst of stray animals on streets in mind and for the birds,” Rotary Club president Ms.Latha Balamukundan says.

She, along with the club’s community service director Mr.Rajesh Khanna and Rotary club secretary Prakrithi Goenka took part in implementing this project. “The members of various Rotary clubs have been urged to fill the pots with water everyday and keep them on terrace, balcony and outside the homes. The Rotary Club of Chennai Coastal has been doing this noble project from 2019 during every summer time,” Rotary Club president Ms.Latha Balamukundan, who is a resident of T.Nagar in Chennai, has said.
