MADURAI: The Registrar in-charge of Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) Dr.K.Sadasivam is likely to step down and tender his resignation very soon due to some serious objections raised from a few Syndicate members of the varsity questioning his seniority, reliable sources in the university told ‘Lotus Times’ media here on May 4th 2023.
This issue came for discussion through an adjournment motion brought by an elected Syndicate member at the latest Syndicate meeting that took place on April 24th 2023. The university campus is abuzz that Dr.Sadasivam will opt out of the Registrar post in view of the objections and questions raised about this seniority and administrative experience.
Higher education sources told this website today afternoon that the Higher Education Secretary Mr.D. Karthikeyan is fully aware of the matter and he is taking full information from MKU Vice-Chancellor Prof.J.Kumar and others.
“The adjournment motion was brought by Syndicate member and American College Principal Dr.M.Davamani Christober at the Syndicate meeting held on April 24th 2023. It was discussed in that meeting which was attended by Higher Education Secretary Mr.Karthikeyan through online from Chennai. Some Syndicate members were very vocal that Dr.Sadasivam should not continue as Registrar in-charge because seniority should be taken into account. As this issue is gaining momentum in university campus and in academic circles in Madurai, Dr.Sadasivam himself has volunteered to step down from that post,” sources told ‘Lotus Times’ today.
Meanwhile, a few senior faculty members informed that the Vice-Chancellor Prof.Dr.J.Kumar too is keen to resolve the matter at the earliest since there is a stiff opposition for the incumbent Registrar in-charge Dr.Sadasivam on seniority grounds.
“The names in seniority list is being sent to the Higher Education Secretary today and in all probability the replacement will happen very soon because the prime demand of some Syndicate members is that a senior person from the seniority list should be appointed as Registrar of MKU,” sources added.
