MADURAI: Lok Sabha MP of Madurai Parliament constituency Mr.Su.Venkatesan has said today that a committee which was formed to study the 12,000 years of cultural history of India had to be dissolved because a complaint was made to the President of India that there was no representation for expert from south India in this committee.
“The Union Ministry of Culture had formed a committee to do an expert study on 12,000 years of cultural history of our dcountry. The committee was formed with 29 members, but there was not a single member from South India in this committee to represent southern States, also there was no women member, no person from North East region and there was no person from Tamil Nadu in this national committee. So, we took up the issue at national level. A letter of representation signed by 54 MPs was sent to the President of India and this committee was dissolved based on our complaint that there is no proper representation from all regions of our country,” Madurai MP Mr.Su.Venakatesan has said here today- on April 29th 2023.
He was speaking at an interactive session cum awareness meeting ‘The Roots’ here in Madurai ojn April 29th 2023 which was organized by Tamil Heritage Foundation, Pitch Foundation and MADITSSIA in Madurai, to create greater awareness about scientific initiative to understand Tamil roots, DNA analysis, Virumandi experiences and case studies.
Prof.R.Pitchappan, founder of Pitch Foundation-Madurai, Mr.M.S.Sampath, president of MADITSSIA, Dr.K.Subashini, president, Tamil Heritage Foundation International, Prof.Dr.G.Kumaresan of ancient DNA lab school of biological sciences of Madurai Kamaraj University, Mr.M.Elango, chairman of MADITSSIA lub and Prof.Dr.N.Kannan, vice-president and co-founder of Tamil Heritage Foundation International, were among those who addressed the gathering and spoke in the panel discussion session.
Dr.R.Bama from Tamil Heritage Foundation, had explained about why this special meeting called ‘The Roots’ was organized at MADITSSIA Hall in Madurai today and the steps taken to give a scientific understanding about ‘Virumandi’, ancient DNA analysis, Tamil roots etc.
