MADURAI: A seminar on ‘Relevance of Gandhism Today’ was organised by Sri Aurobindo Mira College of Education and Institute of Gandhian Studies and Research-Gandhi Memorial Museum in Madurai on 27th April 2023, here.
Gandhian Thought experts – K.R.Nanda Rao, secretary of Gandhi Museum, Dr.R.Devadoss, principal, Institute of Gandhian Studies and Research-Madurai and Mr.R.Natarajan, education officer of the museum, had addressed the students about Gandhism and Gandhian values.
“Gandhism is a very simple philosophy built upon two values- truth and non-violence. It is easy to speak but very difficult to implement in our daily life. If we practice Gandhian values, impossible may become possible,” Dr.Devadoss said.
While Mr.Nanda Rao highlighted Mahatma Gandhi’s Madurai visit and sacrifice of Thillai Adivalliammal in South Africa, education officer Mr.Natarajan spoke Gandhian model of education which is needed for creating a healthy social order, according to a press release received from the museum.
Ms.Ajumunisha, coordinator of Sri Aurobindo Mira College of Education, gave the introductory address. Physical director of the college Dr.Sivabalan and college teachers including Ms.Janani were among those present. College student teacher Haritha (B.Ed second year) welcomed the gathering while Mari Selvi (student teacher B.Ed first year) had proposed a vote of thanks. Compering was done by Ms.Divya and Ms.Ramya.
The seminar was organised in the college here on April 27th 2023 jointly by the Institute of Gandhian Studies and Research of Gandhi Memorial Museum and Sri Aurobindo Mira College of Education, Madurai.
