MUFA meets MKU Vice-Chancellor with 12 important demands, seeks his immediate intervention

MADURAI: The Madurai Kamaraj University Faculty Association (MUFA) had made 12 demands to varsity Vice-Chancellor Prof.Dr.J.Kumar and urged him for his immediate intervention and positive consideration of its demands.

MUFA president Dr.A.Velanganni Joseph and general secretary Dr.S.Pushparaj met the Vice-Chancellor in his chamber here yesterday- on April 26th 2023- and submitted a representation of 12 demands pertaining to faculty promotions, pension, university canteen etc.

The demands made by MUFA include completion of Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) process that was initiated in December 2022 without further delay, constituting a committee to address the pending CAS issue concerning Dr.Anbalagan, Dr.Vijaya Bhaskar and Dr.Sujin Jose immediately, reopening of university canteen and giving of details about the accumulated CPS pension amount in the monthly payslip.

Other demands that were taken to the notice of MKU Vice-Chancellor are urging him to bring out a white paper on all UG programs conducted in the university campus, disbursal of terminal benefits to all retiring teachers and pension from the day of their retirement, to fill up the Head positions lying vacant in varsity departments and constituting a high level committee to address the financial crisis in MKU.

The MUFA office-bearers also demanded that the minutes of MKU Syndciate, Senate and Academic Council meetings should be posted in university website besides urging the Vice-Chancellor to take steps for forwarding the applications of faculty seeking employment elsewhere without any conditions.

Granting of regular annual increment to Prof.A.Velanganni Joseph of Department of Youth Welfare Studies and Dr.B.Sathiyamoorthy of Department of Tamilology for the year 2022-23 was also mentioned in the MUFA representation given to MKU Vice-Chancellor here on April 26th 2023.
