MADURAI: The prestigious Lady Doak College in Madurai had celebrated its college day here today- on April 21st 2023.
Rev.Fr.(Dr) John Felix Raj, Vice-Chancellor of St.Xavier’s University in Kolkata, was the chief guest and he had delivered the college day address. He appreciated the 75 years of service in education by the college and he highlighted the close connection between West Bengal and Tamil Nadu, by citing the example of Swami Vivekananda who derived inspiration from Tamil Nadu.
“A land of wisdom originates when spirituality and humility meet, India had largest youth population and hence will have a bright future,” the chief guest said. He distributed prizes and awards to winners in academic, co-curricular and extra curricular activities.
There was also Student Cabinet Valediction today as student union members of 2022-23 handed over their office to the newly elected office-bearers for academic year 2023-24. Retiring faculty and non-teaching staff were honoured by LDC Principal Dr.Christianna Singh while Ms.Aahila, Student Union president, LDC, had proposed a vote of thanks.
Earlier, the college Principal and Secretary Dr.Christianna Singh had presented the college annual report through a video presentation and highlighted the various activities undertaken by faculty and students. LDC Vice-Principal Dr.Beulah Jeyashree welcomed and introduced the chief guest.
