MADURAI: The Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) here is proceeding with a perfect plan for implementing the student-focused ‘Naan Mudhalvan’ scheme which was launched by the State government last year.
Inaugurated by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Mr.M.K.Stalin on 1st March 2022, this scheme is aimed at enhancing the skill sets of students especially at college level through offering of various skill-based courses and equip students with industry needed skills. In this process, the universities and higher education institutions have been made vital partners to play a key role and guide the colleges, faculty and students.
The MKU has been proactively working for implementing the ‘Naan Mudhalvan’ scheme through a series of measures for colleges, courses and students. A press report was issued on April 19th 2023 highlighting the steps taken for implementing this scheme.
In that direction, Faculty Development Programme Phase-1 for arts and science colleges from 30th January to 3rd February 2023, in which 333 faculty members from Madurai Kamaraj University, Alagappa University and Mother Teresa Women’s University. In Phase 2, faculty development programme was conducted from 6th to 10th February 2023 and this was attended by 277 faculty members from MKU and Mother Teresa Women’s University. “Totally 610 faculty members have attended the faculty development programme,” the press release informed.
COURSES AND SYLLABUS:
A Board of Studies meeting for all the subjects was conducted by MKU on 24th March 2023, and in this meeting the ‘Naan Mudhalvan’ courses were incorporated for second, fourth and sixth semester syllabus. “This syllabus notification communication was sent to all the Principals of non-autonomous affiliated colleges. Updates on Naan Mudhalvan scheme are being regularly communicated to college principals. Also, the scheme coordinator Dr.J.Balasubramanian, assistant professor, Department of Journalism and Science Communication, MKU, is clarifying all the doubts of colleges through Whatsapp messages,” the university press release added.
Further, the Registrar of MKU had sent a letter on 15th March 2023 to the Principals of all non-autonomous affiliated colleges regarding the courses offered by Naan Mudhalvan scheme and details of course mapping was also attached with that latter.
According to the MKU press release here yesterday, the Vice-Chancellor of MKU had convened a video conference meeting with principals of all affiliated colleges and discussed elaborately about the implementation of this scheme. Also, sensitization and review meeting was held on 29th March 2023 where doubts were clarified to colleges.
