MADURAI: The temple city of Madurai is getting ready for the famous Chithirai festival 2023 which is commencing soon and preparations are now going on in full swing at various places in coordination with officials of various departments.
On 13th April 2023, Madurai Mayor Ms.Indrani Ponvasanth and Corporation Commissioner Mr.Simranjeet Singh Kahlon had inspected a few important places that are important for Chithirai festival and Lord Kallazhagar’s entry into Vaigai river.
The Mayor and Corporation commissioner went to Thenur Mandapam and Vandiyur Perumalkoil Mandapam and enquired about the arrangements being made for Chithirai festival. They also went to Alwarpuram area in the city where the famous entry of Lord Kallazhagar into Vaigai river will take place in the presence of thousands of devotees.
Senior officials of Madurai Corporation including City Engineer Mr.Arasu and City Health Officer Dr.Vinodhkumar were among those present during this inspection by Madurai Mayor and Corporation Commissioner on April 13th 2023, according to a press release received from the corporation here yesterday.
The Chithirai festival 2023 in Madurai is commencing on April 23rd 2023 with flag hoisting at Sri Meenakshi Amman Temple. Some important dates are 30th April (Meenakshi Pattabhishekam), 2nd May (Sri Meenakshi Sundareswarar Thirukalyanam) and 5th May is Lord Kallazhagar’s entry into River Vaigai. The Chithirai festival and related events that follows for Lord Kallazhagar will come to close on May 9th 2023.
