MADURAI: A workshop on role of youth in basic emergency care was conducted by the Department of Medical Laboratory Technology of American College here on 12th April 2023. Students were taught about basics of emergency care and about timely intervention during medical emergencies like cardiac arrests, road accidents, stroke etc.
Orientation was given on importance of Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation in saving the lives of patients who suffer cardiac arrest. Dr.Narendra Nath Jena, Director and Head of Institute of Emergency Medicine, Meenakshi Mission Hospital and Research Centre (MMHRC)-Madurai, Dr.P.Sathishkumar, institute registrar, and a team of doctors had taught students about basics of emergency care in this workshop.
Dr.M.Davamani Christober, Principal and Secretary of The American College, had inaugurated the workshop in which 290 students from different departments of the college had enthusiastically participated, according to a press release received from the college yesterday.
Dr.Beaula Ruby Kamalam, Nodal Officer, B.Voc and M.Voc degree programmes, Mrs.J.Gunasundari, deputy director and Dr.A.Deborah Gnana Selvam, coordinator, Department of Medical Laboratory Technology, were among those present.
