Table tennis champion tables success formula for students at TCE sports day in Madurai

MADURAI: International table tennis player and Arjuna awardee Mr.Achanta Sharath Kamal has served the success formula for students by stating from his personal experience in life that sports contribute a lot for one’s success because it develops discipline and dedication.

“By playing any game of your liking and getting interested in sports will lead to problem solving skills. It brings discipline among us. Success and failure should be treated alike. My advise to students is that they should participate in sports events to attain concentration because ultimately it helps in studies also,” he said while addressing the students at 59th Sports Day of Thiagarajar College of Engineering (TCE) in Madurai on 10th April 2023.

The professional table tennis player who is awardee of prestigious Khel Ratna award had motivated the TCE students by saying that he used to go to table tennis court from the age of four years along with his father who was his first coach when he started practicing at the age of nine. “I always thank my school, college, teachers and management for consistently motivating him which made accomplishments possible in table tennis,” Mr.Achanta Sharath Kamal has said.

FOCUS AND CONFIDENCE:

Mr.K.Hari Thiagarajan, member of governing council, TCE, who presided over the sports day function, has also pointed out how sports helps in keeping of physical and mental well-being, keeps body strong, gives focus and confidence.

Dr.Palaninatha Raja, TCE Principal in-charge, spoke on how sports develops inter-personal skills and team spirit. Physical director Dr.Arun Prem had read out the annual report of sports activities and various initiatives taken by the Department of Physical Education of the college.

Prizes were distributed to winners of various sports events. Dr.Vel Kennedy, Dean (extra curricular activities), TCE welcomed the gathering while students S.Shanmuham (general captain-men) and Ms.R.Karthika (general captain-women), had proposed a vote of thanks.
