MKU Vice-Chancellor completes one year

MADURAI: The Vice-Chancellor of Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) Prof.Dr.J.Kumar is completing one year in office today.

He assumed charge as VC on April 1st 2022 for a three-year tenure after he was appointed as MKU Vice-Chancellor by Tamil Nadu Governor Mr.R.N.Ravi.

In the last one year, Prof.J.Kumar has been focusing on streamlining various academic and administrative matters in the university, introduction of technology-enabled teaching-learning methods, strenghtening of research and bringing new courses, MoUs with companies and associations for the benefit of students and on implementation of schemes as conceived by the State government and national level agencies for higher education.

The fragile financial situation of MKU and payment of salaries and pensions in time for all university employees and pensioners was one among the important issues that is taking his attention, and Prof.Kumar who came to Madurai Kamaraj University as its Vice-Chancellor (from Anna University in Chennai where he was a professor prior to his appointment as VC here), is working hard to improve the varsity’s finances by being in constant touch with senior level government officials, sources said.

On March 31st 2023, Prof.Dr.J.Kumar’s official schedule is to attend the important MKU Senate meeting where some important issues like Ph.D guideship etc are coming for discussion.
