One crore people in TN have passport right now: Passport Officer speaks at TN Chamber meeting

MADURAI: There are 10 crore people who are having passports in India right now and one crore people are having passport in Tamil Nadu, said Mr.B.Vasanthan IFS, Regional Passport Officer, Madurai. Addressing the members of Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry at its 6th Executive Committee meeting held here on March 28th 2023, he had outlined the various steps that were taken to make the process of getting a passport easy for the convenience of people.

“The procedures have been simplified for obtaining a passport and the cases of delay in giving passports have been substantially reduced. Introduction of online application mode, reducing the number of documents required while applying for passport, the reduced waiting time in passport offices, tatkal passport, easing of visa procedures and e-passport etc were among the points highlighted by him while explaining about some key aspects about passports,” according to a press release received from the chamber here yesterday.

This is the 99th year of Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the sixth EC meeting in this 99th year took place on 28th March 2023 in Madurai. Chamber president Dr.N.Jegatheesan had presided over the meeting and was attended by co-office bearers of the chamber including vice-presidents D.S.Jeeier Babu, and G.Elangovan, TN Chamber secretary J.Selvam, treasurer S.Sridhar, joint secretaries M.A.Rajeev, A.Sundaralingam and others.
