MADURAI: The Department of Food Science and Nutrition of American College in Madurai had organized an international conference on ‘Innovative Approaches in Life Sciences- ICIALS 23’ on March 24th and 25th 2023. Dr.Wilson Aruni, Vice-Chancellor of Amity University, had inaugurated the conference and delivered the inaugural address by appreciating the college and department for holding an international conference on an important topic.
Dr.M.Davamani Christober, Principal and Secretary of The American College. presided over the inaugural session and spoke about the rapid growth of Food Science and Nutrition Department. A press release received from the college has informed that souvenir cum abstract proceedings was released with 120 abstracts received from various colleges in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
TECHNICAL SESSIONS:
There were technical sessions in this conference ICIALS 23 by Dr.Deivanayagam Champion from University of Alabama, USA who spoke about streptococcus mutants and Dr.Albert Premkumar from the Stockholm University in Sweden who gave a session on nutraceuticals. In this two-day conference, there were also sessions by Er.Vatchravelu from CFTRI who gave a session on bio-instrumentation, Dr.Vijayalakshmi from California, by Dr.Arul Ananth from Karpagam University and Dr.Deepa from Periyar University.
The valedictory session took place on March 25th 2023 with Mr.S.V.S.VelShankar, president of Tamil Nadu Foodgrains Merchants Association, giving valedictory address. Mrs.Poornima Jeyasekaran, organising secretary of the conference and Mrs.Soumini were among those who spoke.
This international conference was successfully organized by convenors Dr.S.Priyadharshini and Dr.K.Nithya, the press release said.
