MADURAI: The Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry has welcomed the various announcements made in the Tamil Nadu Budget 2023-24 which was presented in the Assembly today- on March 20th 2023- by Finance Minister Mr.P.T.R.Palanivel Thiagarajan.

“On behalf of the trade and industry, the TN Chamber welcomes the budget as it has key announcements that satisfy the overall economic development of the State. In particular, we are delighted that Rs.8,500 crores has been allocated for the Madurai Metro Rail Project for which the feasibility report is ready for 31 kms Madurai Metro Rail Phase-I between Othakadai and Tirumangalam. However, the trade and industry is disappointed because there is no announcement of underpass project for expansion of Madurai airport runway. Also, the power tariff hike that is adversely affecting MSME sector was not reduced in this budget 2023-24. We believe that appropriate relief will be given during the demand for grants discussion in this budget session of Tamil Nadu Assembly,” Mr.N.Jegatheesan, TN Chamber president, has said in a press release giving the chamber’s budget reaction on March 20th 2023 from Madurai.

The Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry had welcomed ‘Mamadurai project’, the Kalaignar Memorial Library to be opened on June 3rd, the SIPCOT Textile Park in Virudhunagar that creates employment opportunities, the free Wi-Fi scheme announcement for Madurai and other places besides the proposed book fair that is to be held districts also.
