MADURAI: The Tamil Nadu Foodgrains Merchants Association Limited has today requested the State government to start the Madurai Metro Rail Project from Melur and covering Othakadai.
“Announcement and allocation of Rs.8,500 crores for Madurai district through Metro Rail Project connecting Othakadai and Tirumangalam by crossing main parts of Madurai city is a welcome move and we request the Government to commence the Metro train project this year itself by allocating the funds from State budget itself. We suggest to start the Madurai Metro Rail from Melur covering Othakadai,” a press release received from Tamil Nadu Foodgrains Merchants Association here today has said in its budget reaction to the Budget presented in State Assembly by Tamil Nadu Finance Minister Mr.P.T.R.Palanivel Thiyagarajan.
While welcoming the various announcements made in the Tamil Nadu State Budget 2023-24 today, the association has also said that it is waiting for ‘Samadhan Scheme’ which is to be brought for settling the pending cases filed during the VAT regime.
“Many States have introduced and collected the taxes under this scheme. Hence we request our State government to introduce ‘Samadhan Scheme’ and to collect the pending taxes. We are welcoming 29 important announcements mad ein today’s budget. We request the government to look into pending taxes. We also request the Government of Tamil Nadu to immeciately form a committee comprising the Minister, Government officials and trade associations for addressing the GST issues,” the press statement released by Tamil Nadu Foodgrains Merchants Association president Mr.S.V.S.S.VelShankar, honorary secretary Mr.S.Sai Subramaniam and honorary advidor S.P.Jeyapragasam, has said from Madurai on March 20th 2023, after the Tamil Nadu budget was presented today.
