MADURAI: The ‘Unnat Bharat Abhiyan’ (UBA) team of Lady Doak College in Madurai had visited a few villages near here on March 17th 2023 to sensitize the local people and also went to a few schools to sensitize students about creating a clean and green village.
During this field visit, the college team went to UBA villages- Velichanatham, Maalaipatti, Pulanpatti, Meenakshipuram and Chinnapatti- and tried to analyse the needs of these villages in an attempt to initiate a transformational change in rural development process through UBA, The team has spent time for villages visit on March 16th and 17th 2023.
Harmful effects of single use plastics, using of cloth bags, demonstrating how to segregate waste and ways to create a clean school environment by having herbal garden etc were focused by the LDC team during its visit to schools, according to a press release received from the college here yesterday.
The programme was coordinated by UBA coordinator Ms.Lakshmi while faculty resource persons from the Department of Botany and Biotechnology Department of LDC had highlighted the importance of herbal plants and herbal garden to school students. “Through this visit to villages and schools there, a sense of willingness to create a healthy school environment was reflected among students and younger generation,” the press release added.
