MADURAI: The 74th annual sports day of Lady Doak College in Madurai was conducted here on March 7th 2023 with Dr.M.Sundar, Vice-Chancellor, Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University-Chennai as chief guest who declared open the sports meet and Ms.J.Beulah Jane Susila, Regional Senior Manager, SDAT-Madurai distributing prizes to winners.
Dr.Christianna Singh, Principal and Secretary of Lady Doak College, has welcomed the gathering. The sports day torch was lit by the Principal and was given to Ms.J.Jerlin Anika, first year BA (Economics) and was then passed on to other students- Yugathishree (3rd BA Psychology and Sociology), K.Sanjushree (Third year B.Sc Computer Science) and P.Sudha (B.A. Economics 3rd year). The oath was by L.Anushya of Third Year BA Economics.
The chief guest Dr.M.Sundar who was thie chief guest for 74th Sports Day of Lady Doak College had addressed the students and spoke about the importance of practice. The events conducted include 4X100 metres relay, ball dance by first year students belonging to the aided stream, dance by first year students belonging to self-financed stream, a demonstration of ‘Silambam’, ball throw, gymnastics etc. The winners received prizes from Ms.Beulah Jane Susila, Regional Senior Manager, Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu-Madurai.
The annual sports report for the year 2022-23 was read by Games Captain Ms.L.Anushya of 3rd year BA Economics. Games vice-captain Ms.J.Jaslin of second year B.Sc (Physics) proposed a vote of thanks, a press release received from Lady Doak College today has said, and the sports day events were coordinated by captain Dr.Shantha Meena and Dr.Hema Latha.
