MADURAI: The 29th State level inter-collegiate flood light volleyball tournament for the Shri.N.Muthiah Ambalam Memorial Trophy was held at the American College ground in Madurai. Totally 14 teams had participated in this tournament which was conducted from February 26th to 28th 2023 by the American College here. Teams from Chennai, Coimbatore, Sivakasi, Madurai, Gandhigram and other places took part in this volleyball tournament.
Karpagam University of Coimbatore (Karpagam Academy of Higher Education-Deemed to be University) had emerged as winner by beating D.G.Vaishnav College-Chennai in the finals by 3-0 (score 25-20, 25-18 and 25-20) and bagged the trophy and a cash prize of Rs.25,000, at the final held in Madurai today- on 28th February 2023.
The second prize went to D.G.Vaishnav College Chennai which got a cash prize of Rs.15,000 while the third spot went to SRM University team which got a cash prize of Rs.10,000. The American College team from Madurai secured fourth position and a cash prize of Rs.7,000, according to a press release received in Madurai today.
Mr.A.Antony Chelladurai, Inspector of Police-S.S.Kottai, Sivaganga, had distributed prizes at the prize distribution function held in American College ground in Madurai today. Dr.M.Davamani Christober, Principal and Secretary of American College and Dr.M.Balakrishnan, Dean for Self-Financed Programmes / Director and Head, were among those present.
