Documentary film festival at MKU from March 1st to 3rd; Bihar Governor to inaugurate ‘Prakriti’

MADURAI: For those who are keenly interested and voicing their concerns on issues related to environment, ecology, hygiene, human rights and Swachh Bharat etc, there is a good opportunity in Madurai itself thanks to the ’14th Prakriti International Documentary Film Festival’ that is taking place in Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) campus in Madurai from 1st to 3rd March 2023, which is being jointly organized by the Consortium for Educational Communication (CEC)-New Delhi in collaboration with EMRC of Madurai Kamaraj University here (Educational Multimedia Research Centre-MKU). Bihar Governor Rajendra Viswanath Arlekar will inaugurate the documentary film festival in MKU campus at 11 am on 1st March 2023.

At a press meet held in MKU here today on 28th February 2023, the CEC Director Mr.Jagat Bhushan Nadda and MKU Vice-Chancellor Prof.J.Kumar have given a few important details about this 14th ‘PRAKRITI’ international documentary film festival that is encouraging filmmakers, film enthusiasts and the youth to create public awareness on environment, development, ecology, hygiene and ‘Swachh Bharat’ clean India campaign etc, and Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), and to make the digital learning repository available in 12 regional languages including Tamil language.

“Digital is a very good effective way to reach to our students and youth. This year, the award cum screening of CEC’s 14th Prakriti International Documentary Film Festival is being organized in MKU in Madurai. In these three days, 20 films will be screened to sensitize students and all stakeholders. Our focus is on topics that cover environment, ecology, development, Swachh Bharat, human rights, climate change, bio toilets and sustainable solutions, sanitation etc. We must preserve our environment and ecology etc. We received 86 entries for this film festival. CEC has been actively organizing ‘Prakriti’ International Documentary Film Festival to promote ICT-based education building digital learning initiatives. Since the year 1997, we are having this ‘Prakriti’ documentary film festival. The CEC has a large digital education depository and our EMRC in Madurai Kamaraj University in Madurai is doing well,” said Mr.Jagat Bhushan Nadda at the press meet in MKU today.

The Consortium for Educational Communication (CEC) as in inter-university centre of the UGC working on electronic media, that addresses higher education needs by developing educational media content through online and offline media, according to a press statement gives here today. The CEC uses digital power to empower higher education needs, it increases accessibility to higher education.

The 1st Prakriti film festival was organized in 1997 and since them several steps are being taken for documentary film-making with a broad alliance working on educational aspects of ecology, hygiene, education, equity, ethics etc.

Mr.Sunil Mehru, festival coordinator and joint director-software of CEC-New Delhi and S.Murali, organizing secretary of the festival and EMRC Director of MKU and Dr.K.Sadasivam, Registrar in-charge of MKU were among those present at the press meet held in university campus today to highlight the ’14th Prakriti International Documentary Film Festival’ taking place in Madurai MKU campus from March 1st to 3rd 2023.
