MADURAI: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has given an important circular to universities in India about a Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for admission to Undergraduate programs. In a letter dated 16th February 2023, the UGC Secretary Prof.Manish R.Joshi has sent an official communication to the Vice-Chancellors of all universities of State, Deemed and Private universities in India and to the Principals of all colleges.
“The National Testing Agency has been entrusted with the responsibility of conducting CUET-UG/PG. It is understood that many higher education institutions in the country either use marks of 12 Board or conduct separate entrance examinations for admission in UG courses. To save students from appearing in multiple entrance examinations conducted on different dates, sometimes coinciding with each other, and also to provide equal opportunity to all students from different Boards, the UGC invites and encourages all State universities, Deemed to be Universities, Private universities and other higher education institutions to adopt and use CUET score for admission in Undergraduate programs,” the official letter sent to universities by Prof.Manish R.Joshi , secretary of UGC, has said on 16th February 2023.
