231 children rescued at Rly stations in Madurai division in 2022; RPF police plays very great role

MADURAI: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) had rescued 231 children in the Madurai Division of Southern Railway during the year 2022. Station-wise details of children rescued by the RPF in Madurai division were informed to the media here in Madurai on 15th February 2023.

“The RPF undertakes the noble cause of identifying and rescuing runaway/lost/separated children found on trains, railway stations and in other railway premises. Totally 231 children were rescued in Madurai Division of Southern Railway at four railway stations through Child Help desks at Madurai, Tuticorin, Ramanathapuram and Rameswaram- (196 boys and 35 girls).

The children rescued were from Madurai, Rameswaram, Dindigul, Tuticorin, Virudhunagar and Tirunelveli. This was done through intensive campaign by the Indian Railway to rescue children and provide information on railway website, through Child Help Desks which are operational at 143 railway stations across the Indian Railway, through a Standard Operating Procedure.
