MADURAI: The Principal and Secretary of Lady Doak College in Madurai Dr.Christianna Singh was issued a Show-Cause Notice dated November 9th 2022 by the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) mentioning about proposed Criminal Prosecution for non-compliance with ESI Act 1948 (Act 34 of 1948)…general regulations.
The establishment Katie Wilcox Educational Association is situated in LDC campus. Mr.R.Rajkumar of ESI Department went to the Lady Doak College in Madurai on 12th October 2022, on 28th October 2022 and on 9th November 2022 for conducting regular inspection as per the intimation from Ministry of Labour and Employment of Government of India. “You have failed to produce the relevant records and obstructed the Social Security Officer of ESI Sub-Regional Office in Madurai in the discharge of his duties. It is proposed to file criminal prosecution against you for the offences…. It is proposed to give you an opportunity to show cause as to why you should not be prosecuted. In future defaults, no separate show cause will be issued to you and the ESI will launch criminal prosecution for such defaults. Submit reply within 10 days,” the notice signed by S.Vijayan, Deputy Director, dated 9th November 2022 has said.
Copies of this notice were sent to the M/s Katie Wilcox Education Association also and to Mr.R.Rajkumar SSO of ESI-Madurai, for information and submission of further inspection report where it is due. Sources said that the Lady Doak College should have submitted by now all the required relevant records to the social security officer of ESI.
