MADURAI: The Food Safety Department in Madurai district in association with Fatima College in Madurai had organized a special event ‘Eat Right Millet Mela’ in the college campus here on 21st December 2022 in connection with International Year of Millet 2023 (IYOM).
Dr.S.Aneesh Sekhar, Madurai District Collector, was the chief guest and he urged the students to eat millets, peanuts etc for goof health and energy. For the inaugural program, several important persons were invited and they include Madurai Corporation Commissioner Mr.Simranjeet Singh Kahlon, Aditional Collector of Madurai Mr.S.Saravanan, DRO Mr.R.Sakthivel, Madurai Medical College Dean Dr.A.Rethinavel, Deputy Director of Health Services Dr.K.V.Arjun Kumar and City Health Officer in Madurai Corproation Dr.S.Vinoth Kumar.
Dr.V.Jeyarama Pandian, Designated Officer of Food Safety for Madurai district, spoke on the significance of this millet event in which several stalls were put up and awareness was created on the nutrient and health value of millets.
